Subject: Calling 3 phase motor experts

Central Minnesota

Have a 60 horse power 3 phase Baldor irrigation motor run by a Allen Bradley VFD controller.  It quit or shorted out for the 4th time in less the 8 years.  First 2 time Baldor replaced under warranty. This time the VFD says Fault 042 Phase UW Short.    Electric motor shop says that the motor checks out good  there, but don't have a VFD controller.  If we hook the VFD controller to a different 15 horse motor, it controls that motor good so it seems the VFD is good.

At a complete loss why we can't get a motor to last anymore. I think this one lasted 4-5 years as the first 2 times they didn't even make it a year.

The original motor made it like 20 some years with the same setup and only went bad because didn't catch that the bearings needed replaced and the armature got ruined.

Going to try a WEG motor this time I think.

Anyone have any idea how to figure out what is going on?

It is for irrigating a golf course and is inside of a building if that makes any difference. Probably runs 1200-1400 hours a year.
