Subject: grain truck motor question

Franklin County, Frisco, IL
starting to look for a used grain truck. have looked at a few cab and chassis units (previous propane delivery trucks) and it seems that the most commom motors are the GM 366, the GM 427 and the Ford 429. most of these units are set up with the 5 speed tranny and 2 speed rears.

can the 366 handle a 600-700 bushel load? or do i need to stick with the 427/429 type of motors?

i haul to the local elevator (about 15 miles one way) on pretty decent roads with just minimal hills. I don't need to set any speed records but if i need the 427 i might as well find one now.

I know i see several 80's -90's model tandems with the 366 5/2 setups, so i am assuming that they perform.

thanks Jim
