So I have been using a pellet stove to heat our house for 10 years now. I have pretty much bought the same pellets during all that time. A local place that makes them. Last year I got a different brand. I thought they produced less ash. Well I am sure now that I've gone through all of these pellets left over from last year and am now back to burning my local pellets again. Does less ash suggest a better product? Am I getting more for my money buying pellets that produce less ash? The local pellets saved me about $45 for 4 tons. But maybe I should be considering switching next year. Thoughts?
