NW Iowa | I've got a '12 yr old PB Irish black bull that cost me $6000 back in '14.
As a 2yr old it was hitting 70 head in a 45day window.
I'm down on cows now but he hit 35 head in a 30 day window this spring.
Running less than 8% open. Some of this is the cows fault.
He is the same size has he was a 2yr old,
can bred heifers,
has feet like Clydesdales,
sperm mobility and count very high
I can control him like a show calf.
Sometimes they pay, sometimes they don't they are a gamble. Unless it's PB angus, they have polluted the gene pool too much, they are overpriced crap
Can't let everybody sell bulls without some checks...
Edit- He doesn't look like much but he raises power house calves.
He is the last one of his genetics. The last IB1 "Boney" bull from the 70's.
The calves finish at 1500lbs and do it faster.
His heteroses is throw the roof
I don't believe in creep feeding
stalks and grass till weaning.
Always buy high alt stock from out west. Do not buy dry lot pushed bred heifers or bulls. 7700ft preferably grown on grass and sticks.
