| Obviously your in a huge minority being able to buy bulls like that.
You still have feed and occasional one that doesn't check out when it comes to breeding exam test to.
But sounds like your doing well with what you have going
I finally got rid of the cows few months back to focus on feedlot and crop more. But when I was in the buyers seats I never spent more than 3750 for a bull ever. For a bull battery of 30 I'd buy 8 bulls every year with a max cap at $26k sometimes that was difficult to find bulls that were closely related on that budget but most years it was do-able
Usually 8 cull bulls would bring roughly 16k and the calf crop would supplement the extra 10k.
In the early years We'd put a lot of miles on bull shopping. Later we got smart and found the programs we liked at the prices we liked. It's not terrible hard to find reasonable bulls but that means you can't brag about how many miles or how many $ you spent finding your bulls.
Lot of bull guys with big names still do a load n go program with bulls between 3 and 4500. | |
