As far as I understand it the USDA did test a cow and it tested positive for HPAI, however there still hasn’t been confirmation that HPAI is causing the sickness being reported in Kansas, New Mexico, and Texas. They simply “believe” it to be the likely culprit (4:00 pm yesterday).

Can’t say I’m all that surprised. There have many reports for years now of HPAI jumping to other mammals including aquatic mammals. If my memory is accurate most infections have resulted in death…
