NE, NE | I’ve been thinking of you guys to the west of us! We only got 2 days of constant rain and sleet, but yards are a soupy mess and temps dropped into the low teens last night. Calves all look exhausted and like you have been putting bedding out to try and keep the calves from freezing in the mud, but I’m afraid the effects won’t be fully felt for a few days. With the wind blowing so hard the calves would rather stay with mom than go lay on the bedding that’s fenced off from the cows so stalks don’t last long with 100+ cows. I’ve got great wind breaks thankfully, but when my energy and mood get down I think it could be much worse as you guys probably had same conditions to deal with before dumping 8-12” of snow on top. Good news upper 50’s and sun on Thursday, good luck! | |
