We got the dog moved. I had already tried Benadryl, alcohol, and sending my 11 y/o daughter to get him, and nothing worked. Texted a neighbor about roping him since I don’t have that skill, but he was busy so we hadn’t attempted that.
So this morning our hired man asked me (in very broken English) what we were going to do with that dog that was now just sitting there in an empty field. I told him I was trying to move the dog to the sheep but couldn’t touch him or catch him. Hired man looked confused, said he can walk right up to the dog or call him over, pat him, pick him up, whatever. I told him to move the dog then, because I was wasting too much time trying. Sure enough, hired man went to the field one time, loaded up the dog in no time at all, and took him to the sheep.
So evidently that guard dog is a bit racist, he doesn’t trust white people. On reflection it makes sense, since we had a Mexican herder that didn’t speak a word of English caring for the sheep (and dogs) at the other farm where that dog was born and lived until October. So now Angel is in charge of relocating that dog.
