Update, April 28: The Annvile Cleona Fire Department (ACFD) has confirmed that one man passed away on Saturday after a silo collapsed in on him while he was inside.
According to the fire department, the initial 911 caller reported that a silo collapsed while a man was inside, working to level to silage.
Officials with the fire department reported that further emergency and heavy equipment support was "urgently requested" as the scene unfolded.
The rescue mission was then transitioned into a recovery effort when a body was discovered within the silo by a K-9 unit at 1:10 p.m., according to the ACFD.
Crews were then on the scene for seven hours to ensure the victim's safe recovery.
"In light of the emotional toll this incident has taken on both emergency responders and the loved ones of the victim, ACFD command staff expends gratitude to all who provided assistance," ACFD stated in a Facebook post. "The collaborative response drew upon the expertise of some of the region's finest rescuers, spanning Lebanon, Lancaster, Dauphin and York Counties. The ACFD offers our sincere condolences to the family and friends affected. Our thoughts are with them during this difficult time."
