That is what I do seems to work for me. Saw a video once where a person peeled back the plastic then twisted the wire together then put the plastic back and maybe taped it. I can assure you I ain't going to all that trouble, half maybe more of my polys have multi splices were I have broke the wire in the past various ways. Most of them don't even carry a current all the way thru. Our cattle are all gun shy like me, been shocked in the past and don't want anymore of it. Earlier this week my strips were down in spots come to find out a neighbors calf was in with our cow herd wandering around and went thru the polys. Oh by the way he came to us via a 5 barb wire fence or swam the creek and he got back home by himself.
