There was a post a year or so ago about hf calves getting bred early and I got ridiculed about for saying we had it happen occasionally on 14-15 old hfs, it happens. It's likely your friends hf was 5 months or so old and had a short gestation. Seems like it happens more with Gelbvieh and Red Angus
