Subject: calf forgot how to nurse

Northwest Iowa
Haven' been on here for a while, but looking for some sage advice. We have been fighting mud for a couple weeks with our beef cows calving. We have 2 calves that are 3-5 days old that are all tucked up and appear to have quit nursing. The cows are impossible to work with, so pulled the calves. Tried bottle feeding but calves are low energy and don't seem to know how to nurse. We encounter this problem occasionally and I have always wondered what the best procedure is. Tube feed electorlytes first, then milk replacer a few hours later, or just go with milk replacer right away to try and get calves' energy level up so they can nurse. What do you guys do in this kind of situation. Thanks.
