I have a friend that runs yearlings, and he says the money is in the 'buy'.
He can lock in a 'sell' price, and he pretty much knows what his expenses are, so the better he can 'buy' them, the more money he makes.
The secret to making this work, is knowing what kind of cattle you are 'buying' because you have to be knowledgeable enough to get cattle that will perform well enough to not kill you in expenses.
