Cows don’t really like headed rye, but will eat it as hay for some reason. You can choke some broke mouths but otherwise can leave them until a month before you notice them loosing weight.

I’d roll it up if it was mine. But if you don’t have a baler they will do ok out there. I know guys that leave them until they see more dirt than plants.
