| It’s seems like in recent years there has been a big push for more moderate framed smaller cows.. I am looking to buy a big group of heifers this fall and frame size/cow size has come up a lot.
My question is, how much does cow size affect the calf’s finish size? Is a smaller cow gonna produce a smaller finished animal? Or is this where cross breeding becomes valuable, by crossing, say a smaller red angus, with a Charolais for example?
I was hoping to shrink my average cow size a bit but I don’t want to end up regretting it, ending up with those short 1250 lb fats vs a 1500+ lb fat.
