southern MN | I have only ever seen a few tedders here locally.
Everyone crimps the alfalfa as it’s cut. The ditch hay may or may not get crimped - if you have a crimp machine then you crimp it, if not it dries pretty good without crimping.
It’s interesting how different regions have different needs and tools for the same jobs. In another thread someone mentioned needing a sweep plow hauled. I had to look up what a sweep plow is. Wow. Couldn’t get such a machine through our wet clay and rocks, and not sure why I would want to as it wouldn’t seem to accomplish much. Again, all farming, just need different tools.
I also wish I had the shed room to walk around the machines. I’m so packed in a tractor has to sit outside when I’m in season, have to pack in so tight for winter storage everything is touching its neighbor….
