Subject: RE: Listeria in cattle

Macoupin county Illinois
we've had cattle with listeriosis 4 times over the years that i can think of. twice on pasture, twice in the feedlot. treatment all 4 times on advice of vet was la 200 or la 3oo injected and vitamin b. i also think dex or banamine would be helpful but we didn't use it. lost 2 and saved 2. one of the feedlot calves was flat on his side when i found him, drug him out of the lot with a tractor, he was walking within a couple of days after treatment. Once their neck kinks back to the left side they're done. I feed silage but none of these 4 were being fed silage, i 've read that mold in silage can be a cause.
