But if you are able to make the choice not to buy the calves in the future you assumably know who the seller is or where they're coming from when your buying in the first place...

If the guy your buying feeders from isn't the original cow calf guy then your problem may not be the cow calf guy anyhow...

Anyone can buy EIDs here in the states and there are no rules that say certain classes of cattle can't have tags etc. So one simply needs to buy the tags record which tags got placed in whose calves.


That’s ok if the feeder is buying his own calves from a farm. If he’s at a presort auction how would you know who’s calves are who’s. Also if using a buyer, he’s not keeping track of who’s calves he’s putting in the boughten pen.
