I do not believe those numbers to be the case anywhere near me but I could certainly be proven incorrect. One of my best friends is a regional bank president. I'm friends with several of the board members. Not hearing similarities from them.
I may be the one "blinded" due to having a neighbor that would cut me a check before 8am for everything I own if I promised to be gone in two weeks and never return.
