Subject: Growth the myth

It was mentioned below, "If you're not growing you're dying"

Entirely false

I would guess 200 farmers in my home county (Edwards). Of those 200, I would say 150 have not grown in 30 years or grown every so slightly by buying the one piece next door. Definitely less than 10% in 30 years. Those farms are still there and will continue to still be there in another 30 years other than a few flyers.

Yes, the others have doubled, quadrupled or 10 folded in those same 30 years. We all take a few vacations/yr. We all drink at the same watering holes. We are all able to help start the next generation if that's your goal. We all have paid for houses, trucks and sxs's. Some bigger than others. But no one is dying off.

I can think of exactly one farmer within 50 miles that is no longer in business due to capping himself 10 years ago. Ironically, had he pushed another year he would be just another millionaire in the county.

Edit: The livestock are gone. But if that's your thing, the opportunity is there to bring them right back.
