"You will NEVER compete with the big coops". I can't even guess the number of times I heard that when people found out I was starting a private feed mill.
Not much gives an entrepreneur drive and determination more than telling us we CAN'T do something. BUT you can't just be happy with status quo. You MUST find a niche and excel at it. I have done just that in the calf feed world.
I don't hear "You will NEVER compete with the big coops" anymore. After events of the past 2 weeks, I can confidently say that I am definitely creating waves in the feed world in my area. Those big coops that I was told I wouldn't be able to compete with are definitely taking notice and making it known that they aren't happy with an outsider competing with (and definitely beating) them.
My long range growth plan that I have had in my head has been accelerated by several months, all on its own. Tomorrow a big step from small startup to full steam ahead is happening. Stay tuned!! | |
