I guarantee its not the latest planting you have seen in that area, that's either pure hyperbole or lack of memory.

As to full yield potential, it depends on what you consider "full". Record field potential absolutely. Highest possible yield if everything was perfect, no. But those numbers aren't nearly as far apart as some think.

Farmers are some of the most pessimistic and worst crop predictors there are this time of year. They worry, complain, project the worst that can possibly happen despite extremely low odds. So no I don't think. farmers are good at yield predicting.

Edit: Also if V3 corn takes roughly 350 GDU's to get there how often do you expect to have that size corn on May 4th? Normal GDU accumulation year to date on May 4th in Quincy is barely over 300. Yields aren't nearly that sensitive.
