Subject: RE: Table: By State Crop Conditions

S Illinois
Agree. States and geographic territories are huge but our own day to day view is small and very localized. Even in IL, it’s been a very tough spring in the S 1/3 but with the dry winter, average precip in April/May warm temps and no huge pounding rains I can definitely understand how the N 2/3 can be done planting and why IL has such high ratings.

There is also a reporting bias. There was a post the other day about how good their crops were but 20 miles away they weren’t planted or looked poor. Then farmers in those poor areas reported how poor conditions were for them. But it was not mentioned how good conditions were just 20 miles away. Those 2 descriptions taken together makes its seem like everyone has poor crops with just localized good crops when in actuality it’s the exact opposite with good crops most places and localized problems.
