Once it comes out of the ground let it grow at least 60 days before cutting so the alfalfa can get established... I had weeds last year 4-5 foot tall in mine unfortunately. because of the lack of rain. Stand is beautiful this year. Dont cut too early or it will try and grow upwards instead of putting energy into building root mass.
