Subject: Grazing Cover Crops & Continuous Corn

My main farm is surrounded by corn on corn ground that is chopped for silage each year, not my ground.

But I have beef cows and would like to work out a sublease and start calving in this location.

I am wondering what my options are for a cover crop, planted after chopping each year, for early spring grazing during calving (March/April) in Michigan.

Am looking for something that can benefit both the farmer and me with the cows, or at least limit the effects on corn performance. Cows will be on stalks the rest of the winter, would just like them in this location to calve & graze short term.

Maybe I am even better off just feeding them at this time in this location and not messing around a cover crop?

Open to any advice!
