The hardest part with this idea is climate and latitude.

Most cover crops don’t start “taking off” until temps hit 65-70 degrees with decent sun, soil moisture, and soil temp.

And, excessive rain/wetness can contribute to compaction….. which if it is your land and your cows, then it’s a little easier/more palatable to “fix” ahead of the planter. Otherwise, you run a risk of stressing a good neighbors’ friendship.

Your best bet would be to try to stockpile graze something like milo following a wheat crop potentially. Just spitballing.

If it can be done wrong, I’ve done it.
