This year that probably would have worked like a charm. BUT…every thing seemed to take off early this year. Most years I would count on zero growth in March and very limited in early April. Maybe if you got rye planted early in the fall and had more of a stockpile situation where they were eating fall growth it might work. I would also seed it thick.
