S Illinois | It’s a volume thing. They have to buy roughly 3 times that flash sale everyday. China and companies in China are always buying and trading grain and freight. Logistics/getting a boat loaded are just as important as price. With SA corn exports ramping up load out space and time for beans becomes longer. So boatloads get bought to keep things moving if the cost difference can be made up in cheaper freight.
Edit: the Brazil tax situation has thrown a possible wrench in things until it’s gets straightened out. Some of the grain companies won’t give bids until they have a better idea of what it means for them going forward.
