Guys that have too much land and machinery expense are losing money at current prices. If you can’t make it with $900/acre gross it’s not an income problem, it’s a spending problem.
There is still a huge return to the land at current grain prices so there is absolutely no way that acres will go unplanted other than govt paying to do so (CRP, etc). IMO, $3 wouldn’t idle many acres either, just the junk that should have never been farmed. |
