Latimer, Iowa (north central) | We had the rochester clean chutes so the silage would be directed into feed conveyors. they were some what effective. The silage would get directed down the pipes but they was still enough floating down, that the chutes had silage on every door and you had to crawl with your eyes closed and breathing carefully... Had to lower the unloader two doors at a time as that's how often there was a cutout in the PVC pipe for the funnel to go into.
If just scooping up at the bottom with a loader I wouldn't mess with it. We had to pitchfork the pile that would accumulate at the bottom of the clean chute into the conveyors about once a week, was my job as a kid. I learned real quick to not let the pile sit there for more than a week as rats would move in and it would start to spoil. |
