Central Nebraska | Put simply, you have to manage the grass or you won't be raising beef on it. (very well anyway). Managing grass is something that has come more into focus in the last 15 or 20 years than it had previously. There are still those who say leftover grass is wasted, but far more are seeing the benefits of range management. Many times a meeting or two before turn out discussing goals on both sides can help. There are also getting to be more owners who don't have experience managing range for cattle. (investment owners, previous owners children, etc) It's not a lot different than the tillage problems that the row crop guys have. | |
