I purchased one of these rope wick cattle rubs a couple of years ago. We had pink eye real bad and this helped with some of the fly pressure. I use the Pro Zap rub in this oiler. I was told it was the best for not irritating the cows hide. Does not take much, use maybe 7.5 gallon in a year for 45 cows and calves. Everybody uses it and I think it does a good job. I prefer to not have the mineral feeder on the rub because I use one of those big round feeders with the rubber lid and I feed kelp meal, mineral and salt in the 3 compartment feeder. I also have a fly killer cover for the feeder if face flies are a big problem. I did not need it last year as the rub kept ahead of the flies.
