Subject: RE: Raising beef or managing grass

I keep lucking into hay to bale on halves. Hay market is trash but I can turn it into beef that’s gold.
I’ve been trying to get the cattle numbers to stock another place, just need to get one bought. I did rent another pasture this week, but I have to build fence and figure out water situation, it’s 70 acres and might run 10 pairs so that will help.

If steers stay high this fall I can sell them, make current land payments, get a big chunk of a down payment on 100 acres and keep most the heifers. Old ranchers around here who successfully built something from very little all say you can’t make payments on land and cattle at the same time. You have to have the cattle paid off to stock a place you buy or you’ll be giving it back to the bank.
