Subject: Water hemp silage bales for cattle feed

Kingdom of Callaway - Fulton, Mo 65251
I have a 40 acre patch next to my feed lot that we were going to plant for silage corn. We worked it up and had a nice seed bed and got our nitrogen and fert on early. Then it started raining........

I now have the best stand of water hemp you ever saw. Nice and uniform and dark green from the NH3. It is not headed out yet. Ground won't dry under it before it rains again. I am going to mow it off tomorrow so I can then either spray it and plant it, or at least get it dry enough to work up again. I will have to bale it wet to get it off the field. I wondered if I should try wet wrapping it for hay? Or pile it in a ditch? It would be tube wrapped, and I would feed it in a TMR at a low percentage rate in the ration. I would have it tested for nitrates, protein, etc, but I don't know how to test for toxicity?
