The local thing around here is to not bale the lower spots of a hay field if it contains reed canary grass in the waterways, etc. Everyone always says "Cows won't eat it". I've never had that experience but when I feed hay I don't just let them waste half the bale and get a new bale they gotta finish it pretty good before I unroll another.
Can you trick a cow into eating something?
