south central ill effingham county | Could you use straw instead of hay. I got a 3136 reel mixer I'm feeding a similar ration to my holsteins, I run about 3/4 to 1 lb of straw per head. Im feeding earlage,wet cake, ground corn and straw. Agree with others long stem hay your asking for trouble.
