Concrete or lime screenings is best, I did use some shale screenings one time has held up really well (works better here because packs harder as more clay then limestone has in here) , not sure they are available anymore so will probably go to limestone now, but only use the yard from mid Oct. till spring and not very many cattle after the bulk of the caves get sold.
