Subject: RE: Roughening concrete or grooving

NW Illinois Stephenson county

After watching 2 dairy cows do the splits when I was closing the holding area gate made me need to do something drastic. I had most of my concrete grooved before which helped some, but if a cow went down especially with milk fever the grooves cut the cow up pretty bad when she tried to get up. A friend had some scabbling done, but I thought it was too rough. My mind changed in a hurry! Scabbling is the BEST thing to do for smooth concrete floors for livestock! An Ag-Talk member did it a couple decades ago (1st Generation Farmer). He would know who to hire to do this for you.

Concrete Scarification is another process. A Canadian company never got back to me or I would have tried that.
