Labor is changing that on large operations with a lot of non family hired help.
The young people they are after really aren't impressed with new equipment anymore that years ago people would drive just for the fun of it for almost nothing. These people really don't want to work that hard and they have to pay them what they would make in town or more which they really can't afford. Sure they can bid up the land but they're having a hard time getting it completed.
Paying $30 an hour to drive a million dollar track tractor and million dollar combine seems to be a head scratcher on paper.
The bank keeps giving them money to keep putting on the show but in the end at retirement they aren't going to have anything to show for it.
Granted there are the ones that made their money in other Enterprises and like to farm for the fun of it there will always be that too. But why don't they just do more of the Enterprise that makes money lol?
JD and CaseIH both having big layoffs and the Holy Mother is sending more work to Mexico
H2A's are the new patriotic way to keep the equipment running, coops even using them. Labor is not an issue.
