I believe that how hot your fertility is will depend on how nutritious your hay is the later you cut it.

Seems “here” if you load the bases fertility wise and miss the window for optimum feed value, alfalfa ends up laying on the ground is literally all lignin stems with 10 leaves on the stem. It is a mess to cut with a sickle and slow going with a rake and then takes 5 days to dry down to make 22-25% moisture hay of the dirtiest, dustiest hay type.
