West Central Illinois | Have always had this stuff around but never knew what to call it. Cannot find anything on internet and any of the weed ID apps I tried weren't great. Stuff grows on edge of crop ground where missed spray or in new stands of hay or pasture of converted crop ground. It's always an ultra cool season type plant always seems to be lush in very early spring then when heat comes it browns up. Very light stem, landlord is concerned of it "taking over" new stand of grass and clover but my experience is this stuff is more of an early successional type plant. The clover amd orchardgrass were late planted so still pretty small in the stand, don't wanna mow it yet with as dry and hot as we are I feel the cover is keeping this young grass from burning up
