I thought we were down to record low stocks world wide ?
There's some decent wheat outside our area.. South of Wichita.. over to Kiowa.. the summer fallowed ground out west.
Here, if you can get it.. it might have been slightly better than last years very poor crop. Now though with rains.. and weeds coming.. and i doubt it matters to the bigger market.. but elevators are empty. The terminals are pushing basis.. it "feels like" the mills haven't got their fill yet.. but they're probably going hand to mouth.. so it won't take alot.
Our local elevator right now.. is on track to take in less than last year.. the final 10% is already covered in pigweeds.. we fought that last year.. I'd just work it under and take the insurance.. $7.34.
So there's NO incentive to go get the last of it.
AND the combines are pushing into the rougher parts of the crop. The good stuff is already in.. are you gonna go spray the pigweeds to get 10 bu wheat?
I wouldn't but that's just me.
Some will try..
The board going down is enhancing the Revenue on insurance.. so.. not all bad there.
Edit to clarify.. yes overall more bushels in the state vs last year.. also true that some areas.. like ours.. will still be down though.. we just lost too many tillers.. which now has let too many weeds break through.
Ugly.
