| white shadow - 6/21/2024 23:19 I have been talking to friends in southeast South Dakota. Not about crops anymore. These people are fighting for homes and infrastructure.
Yep
Losing a crop sucks but next year will (hopefully) be better. Crop insurance will ease the pain.
Losing homes, businesses, bridges, roads, etc take a long long time to rebuild and in some cases the rebuilding never happens.
Locally there are still roads closed from the flooding in 1993. Bridges got washed out and have never been replaced, they never will be. Already reports of bridges being washed out today and its still raining. 2014 was really bad flooding locally, much worse than 1993. Lots of houses lost in local towns.
I'm worried by morning 2024 might be the new record flood.
