I'm seeing a sudden surge in milk cows doing that exact thing you're describing.. down for no apparant reason, no injury or doing the splits.. it all started around the same time the virus started going around. I get them up with the hip lifts and separated from the herd, lift them twice a day for a few minutes, then within a couple days they're back to normal. I think your steer will be fine in a few days.
