Subject: RE: Mushrush Red Angus - Kansas

Eastern Half of Kansas
I’m 100 miles east of them, no first hand experience but neighbor uses their bulls, maybe has some females from them. Mushrush has bought his calves and some heifers most years to feed, or I don’t know if he puts heifers in breeding program after neighbor keeps what he wants. I can say I’ve been impressed by my neighbors cows and calves. One piece of information, Mushrush is in flint hills, I personally am in fescue and brome country, cattle don’t always transition from native grass to nasty endofyte fescue. Maybe you’ll be fine, with your cool season grass and less heat, also red cattle will work better. Something to think about and ask them where they’ve sent heifers, I’d assume they’d give references so you could ask a person with similar grass and climate.
