Latimer, Iowa (north central) | One of our neighbors had a set of 20x60's that shared an unloader. Each of our 30x80's had its own unloader, (Vandale surface drives, not perfect by any means). With the addded tonnage of the 30 foot silos we had no problem wearing our unloaders/augers/paddles just doing 1 30x80 silo. It was also nice to have both of them going at the same time to speed up feeding or to have one working if the other unloader had an issue and could still get the cattle fed.
What brand is the concrete silo? We built a "Star" brad poured concrete silo in 1970, 20x60, for high moisture corn. The star was green, not red though. I wonder if its the same brand.
We are building a 4 pack of 21x110 poured concrete silos at our oat mill with an interstice in the middle, each silo will be 26,000 bushels and interstice of 4,500. All 5 be done the same pour. With grain silos, the cost of building the steel hopper inside actually gives some advantage to staying a little narrower, like the 21' vs a 30'.
