I'm not sure where anybody was "trying to talk up the market" but anyway, since the OP was conversation about Iowa, here's a broad data set regarding planting seasons and excessive moisture on millions of acres of the state.   2013 was by far the lowest state average yield since the 2012 drought, and while there was some heat in the late growing season that didn't help, the stage was set by mud in May-June.   2016 and 2021 are the highest two state average yields of the last ten years.
