Poor? Wasn't 178 like the 2 or 3 highest IA corn yield up to that year? I could only find 2004 @ 181 and 2009 @ 182 as years up to that point with better state yields.

Edit: Its only after the run of excellent yields in 2016-2018 that it looks bad in comparison.
