| w1891 - 6/23/2024 22:43 Poor? Wasn't 178 like the 2 or 3 highest IA corn yield up to that year? I could only find 2004 @ 181 and 2009 @ 182 as years up to that point with better state yields. Edit: Its only after the run of excellent yields in 2016-2018 that it looks bad in comparison.
1891- you are correct to an extent, as I am using some big data sets. 2014 is skewed, as it's a rare time that south of Interstate 80 had a more favorable weather pattern and actually boosted the average. Point of my last post, though, was- 2014 stayed cool all the way through pollination and grain fill, with ample moisture, but it still wasn't a banger except for those of us who didn't get kicked in the groin first 69 days of the growing season with excessive rain. My location stayed at or below that long-term average rainfall until the end of June, corn stands were a picket fence everywhere, and then there were beautiful rains in August.
