Subject: RE: Heat in Oklahoma

Western OK
Been done here over a week, got everything out in 8 days, not a single rain delay. Kind of a record here, usually we fight humidity and at least a couple rain outs, then mud in terrace channels. None of that this year.

Usually it's a mad dash to get ground worked or sprayed soon because of crab grass and weeds, nothing is growing so not much ground work.

Sitting on less than half our normal rainfall since the beginning of the year, started with a pretty good deficit from the last half of last year.

Overall the wheat did way better than expected, if you kept your ground clean to save what late summer and fall moisture you got, fertilized, and sprayed Fungicide for stripe rust, there were a lot of upper 50s to upper 60s wheat yields. Cotton stalk wheat was in the 20s. We averaged mid 50s across the farm including the Cotton stalk wheat.

Now we have corn that's been tasseled for over a week going through all the 100 degree days with no moisture left. Got excellent stands of cotton just sitting there waiting out the heat.

Going to be a long summer, custom swather and baler guy caught one of our Bermuda grass patches on fire yesterday, couldn't find anything wrong with his swather but my pickup said it was 112.
